Congratulations to Lifetime Members of Jackson Park Men’s Golf Club!
Dan Puetz Sr. and John Clements
Jeff Schoening

Dan Puetz Sr., John Clements, the late Dick Rovig, and Jeff Schoening were officially made lifetime members by the JPMGC Board of Trustees at its Sept. 25 meeting, in recognition of their many and significant contributions to the club over the years.

Although full bios are beyond the scope and space of this piece, suffice to say these gentlemen have (and in Dick’s case, had) given countless hours of invaluable service in key areas including club administration, tournaments, Seattle Cup and much more.

Lifetime members are exempt from paying dues, but still retain all membership privileges, notably including the right to hold office in the club.

Thanks to and gratitude for John, Dan, Dick and Jeff. Their individual and collective efforts have made the men’s club a better organization.

Congratulations, Dan Fabela and Tim Rowe

JPMGC members Dan Fabela and Tim Rowe are also due congratulations for making it to the final match of the 2024 WA Golf Men’s Net Four-Ball Match Play.

This event attracted more than 252 two-man teams from across the state, starting with pod play, from which pod winners advanced to a single-elimination format. The surviving eight teams competed in the final weekend at Gamble Sands Oct. 11-13, where Dan and Tim won their quarterfinal and semifinal matches to reach the finals, before falling to Charles Birnbach and Vamshidhar Reddy.

A great run, Dan and Tim!

This marks the second consecutive year a JPMGC team reached the final match of this statewide event–Jack Hartley and Jake Zingler did so in 2023.

Which JPMGC duo will represent our club at Gamble Sands in 2025? Stay tuned …

Sand/Seed Bottle Rack

A shout-out to JPMGC member (and immediate past president) Walt Dickhoff for building a rack (see photo) to store sand/seed bottles for golfers to use to fill divots.

The rack, made of TimberTech composite decking, is located at the busy confluence near the 6th and 15th greens and the 7th and 16th tees. A container lies next to the rack, to re-fill bottles.

We encourage members (and all golfers) to pick up a bottle and do your part to maintain and improve course conditions at Jackson. As Walt notes, let’s establish a “culture of care” for the course, including filling divots, fixing ball marks on greens, leaving broken tees in the boxes next to markers, and generally leaving the course in better condition than you found it.

Thanks, Walt! And thanks as well to Jackson Park General Manager Bo Lewis and Superintendent Jon Fulmer for their support and facilitation of this project.

Jackson Park History Project

Dan Puetz Sr., Jeff Schoening and Mark Ohrenschall are engaged in a project to document and display historical memorabilia for Jackson Park as well as the men’s club, in the run-up to Jackson Park’s 100th anniversary in 2030.

They’ve collected a treasure trove of photos, documents, news articles, scorecards, maps, club newsletters, trophies and other items highlighting the long, rich history of the course and our club. They’re exploring opportunities for physical displays as well as online postings.

Please let any of them know if you have Jackson Park historical items for this growing collection, or if you want to get involved.

JPMGC Annual Meeting Set For Jan. 25

The club’s annual meeting will take place Saturday, Jan. 25, at Bad Albert’s Tap and Grill in Ballard.
