JPMGC Financial Health Remains Solid,
by David Foreman
Treasurer, Jackson Park Men’s Golf Club.
Jackson Park Men’s Golf Club is organized and run by member volunteers and supported financially almost entirely by membership dues collected by WA Golf and redistributed to our club. The main purpose of our club is to organize and facilitate golf competitions for our members and guests.
We also strive to support our community with charitable events and to promote the game of golf for all levels of playing ability. This past year, with the stewardship of many dedicated volunteers from our club and beyond, we were able to raise $9,700 for Harvest for Hunger and $4,300 for the First Tee of Greater Seattle in two separate benefit tournaments, and to help facilitate another successful Jackson Park Junior Golf Classic (see Special Events Recap in this issue for more details). The financial health of our club remains solid, with memberships slightly exceeding expectations and costs on target to closely meet our budget.
As of Nov. 15, our 2024 income was $33,530.15, ahead of our projected $31,600, due to higher membership levels. Our 2024 expenses to date were $31,354.03, below our budget projection of $33,345. Our balance as of Nov. 15 was $10,168.71.
A visual breakdown of our costs is presented in the accompanying pie chart, which shows that $20,432, or 69 percent, of costs were returned to our members in the form of tournament payouts. A total of $3,972, or 13 percent of our costs, was for tournament software, with the remaining $5,378 going to administrative costs such as stipends, Seattle Cup, annual awards, website maintenance and board meetings.
