Welcome to Jackson Park Men’s Golf Club!

February 18, 2025

Our 500-plus regular members vary in golfing skills, ages and backgrounds, but unite in their passion to play and support this great game. We invite you to learn more about our club, and to join us.

A men’s club at Jackson Park Golf Course has existed since at least the mid-1950s, and likely before then (the course opened in 1930, and early records indicate some type of affiliated club). Among many highlights over our club’s long history is being named WA Golf’s Club of the Year in 2020.

Our primary mission is running golf tournaments at Jackson Park for our members, with both net and gross competitions. In 2024 we offered more than 60 tournaments, including monthly Saturday tournaments, Wednesday evening 9-hole tournaments, Tuesday morning 18-hole tournaments and six match-play events. Total participation in these events reached about 3,500 in 2024 and our total payouts, in the form of as  book money, came to more than $78,000. About 85 percent of participants won book money–a sign of our commitment to equitably distribute winnings among different handicap levels.

Jackson Park Men’s Golf Club (JPMGC) proudly organizes an annual junior tournament at Jackson Park as well as playing a leading role in two annual benefit events, one raising money for Harvest for Hunger and the other supporting First Tee of Greater Seattle.

In addition, our members engage in service projects around Jackson Park, in collaboration with the course’s professional staff.

JPMGC also fields a team in the Seattle Cup, an annual Ryder Cup-style competition among men’s clubs of the four City of Seattle public golf courses.

And, not least, our club cultivates friendly competition and camaraderie among our membership (and beyond). We are known as a welcoming, inclusive club.

In addition to these benefits, JPMGC membership also includes:

  • An official U.S. Golf Association handicap index.
  • 10-percent discount on selected items purchased at the Jackson Park pro shop.
  • Access to WA Golf information, events and other services.
  • Golf Genius registration and online scoring.
  • Periodic club outings to other area golf courses.

Membership dues are less than $100/year.

The club is governed by a board of trustees that meets four times a year, along with an annual meeting/banquet in January.

We encourage you to explore more about the club on this website. More information is also available via our New Member Liaison.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I join JPMGC?

Visit our website’s Join page for more information.

How many tournaments do I have to play as a member?

As many or as few as you choose, or none at all. It’s entirely your call. JPMGC tournaments are open to members (and in some cases guests), with a few limitations for certain match-play events and the Seattle Cup. Sign-ups for JPMGC events are generally first-come, first-serve. Members also can choose who they play with in stroke-play events.

How do I sign up for club tournaments?

After joining the club, you’ll be invited to register for what we call leagues, for Saturday, Tuesday and Wednesday club events. Once registered in any or all of those leagues, you’ll get regular emails inviting you to sign up online for upcoming events. Please join any tee time with open slots; our members are welcoming to new players. As a member, you’ll also be notified about match-play tournaments, and invited to participate in those, with accompanying sign-up information.

Does the club have preferred tee times on weekends or other days?

For men’s club events, yes. Outside of those, no.

What if I have an issue with a recorded score, or other handicap-related issue?

Contact the Handicap Committee via the Contact Us form on our website.

What are expectations for pace of play in club events?

In a word: prompt. Our website’s Pace of Play page gives guidelines and rules for men’s club tournaments (including penalty strokes for laggard groups in certain circumstances).

What are the rules for JPMGC events?

We play by U.S. Golf Association rules in our club events, plus a handful of local rules. We also provide a Rules FAQ’s to help members better understand and follow the rules of golf.

What are my options for spending book money won in JPMGC events?

Book money can be spent on merchandise at the Jackson Park pro shop as well as pro shops of the three other City of Seattle public golf courses (Bill Wright, Interbay and West Seattle). Note that the 10-percent discount for JPMGC members on selected purchases applies only at Jackson Park. Also note the Jackson Park pro shop can order merchandise if it’s not available on-site. Finally, book money cannot be used for greens fees, driving-range buckets or lessons. New in 2025, book money can be used for cart rentals.

How can I play in the Seattle Cup?

All club members are notified of the upcoming Seattle Cup, which is held annually over two weekends in late August, and asked to express interest in participating. JMPGC team captains select the 24-member squad based mainly on playing records and participation in club events; availability and enthusiasm are also considered. Because all Seattle Cup matches are played at net, JPMGC teams consist of members with a range of handicaps, although the maximum handicap for participants is 18.

What if I have another question?

Please contact JPMGC via the Contact Us form on our website. Someone from the club will get back to you promptly.
