At Summer Field Days celebrating Dick Rovig, Dick gives out the Mediocre Golfer Award in honor of his illustrious golf career. This award goes to the golfer with the most average gross score. Past winners are:
2020 Brian Asplund 2019 Bernie Alfred 2018 Roger Brown
2017 Larry Casey 2016 Mark Persinger 2015 Walt Dickhoff
2014 Travis Jones 2013 Cory Rockey
This year, there was a five-way tie with three golfers at 88 and two at 89. The tie-breaker was the back nine score and the award goes to Mitch Lewis. Lest you think “poor Mitch,” he was first low gross in the blue tees third flight, winning $100. Congratulations, Mitch!
Congratulations to the Champions!
Low Gross of Blue Tees – Daniel Lee (77)
Low Gross of White/Gold Tees – Kurt Kiehn (80)
Low Net of Field – Reed Johnson (66)
Reed Johnson shot his age again. Reed is 77 and shot a 76 from the white tees. Birdies on the first three par threes helped.
Next up on August 7 is the Sixes: two-man teams play the first six holes as a best ball, the second six as a scramble, and the final six as a Chapman, a form of alternate shot.

Pace of Play
The 9:14 group was assessed a two-stroke penalty for being 23 minutes behind the group in front of them and having a playing time over 4 hours and 30 minutes. The 8:14 and 9:34 groups narrowly escaped drawing a one-stroke penalty. The 9:24 group having a 3-minute gap is curious.
You can see from the total time column that once a total time is set, it becomes the new time to complete the round and the following groups have difficulty bettering that time. For example, the 8:04 and 8:14 groups got the total time over 4:30 and no one after them got below 4:30. Similarly, the 9:14 group finished at 4:44, and with the exception of the 9:24 group with its curious 3-minute gap, all the remaining groups were at 4:40 or more.
