Pace of play
The clock was not punching times, so players had to write their finish time on their scorecards. The 10:40 group received a two-stroke penalty because it was over 4:30 and had a gap of 28 minutes. (They started 25 minutes behind the group in front of them, instead of ten minutes. Subtracting that 15 minute difference from their 43-minute gap leaves a 28-minute gap.) Before them, the groups were at or under a 4:22 time.
