Next up is the The Jackson Park Classic on Sat/Sun June 24 and 25.  This event determines our Gross and Senior Gross Stroke Play Club Champions.

Pace of Play ~ Three teams were penalized 2 strokes each. This put one team out of the money.  Regarding the rational for the penalties, we have teams who stayed within the 3-minute lost ball time-frame, finished their rounds in plenty of time, and I know of one player (and I’m sure there were more) who had to drop for a two stroke penalty because they limited the time of their search.  It would be unfair for those who follow this rule to lose out to a team that did not.  So, the penalties level the fairness of play for the field.   The USGA has shown that slow play lowers the scores of those who are behind them. The benefits of playing on time stretch well beyond these reasons.
